SUBJECT: Herod PTO Newsletter

Herod Families, Welcome to another great year!

Herod Families! We hope you had a wonderful summer, we are very excited to welcome everyone to the 2023-2024 school year at Herod Elementary!

Ashley McDonough and Sarah Schnure here, signing on as your 2023-2024 Herod PTO Co-Presidents. We have gotten the pleasure of calling Herod home for the past seven years, with our oldest children, Liam (Ashley) and Maggie (Sarah) finishing their Herod years in 2022 and now starting their 7th grade year at MPVA. We’ve still got a couple of Jets running around, rising 4th graders Molly (Ashley) and Jack (Sarah) and the caboose, Henry (Sarah) heading upstairs to second grade. We obviously have very large, very loud orange and blue love for everything and everyone at 5627 Jason Street and are excited to take this year's journey with all our returning jets and new families!

The Herod PTO Executive Board and Committee Chairs have been busy developing and organizing all the details needed to implement another amazing year for our Jets. Our goal continues to be the enhancement of the educational experience and environment for all Herod Students. Because of tremendous support from our families, your Herod PTO has been able to provide various critical educational programs and school enhancements which help set all of our students and teachers up for a great year. Make sure you check out the PTO dollars at work section of the weekly newsletter so you can see the direct impact your support has at Herod Elementary.

Dr. Berry and all the teachers and staff have been working hard to get this years adventure started off strong, and Ms. Gordon and team have been busy shining up the campus! And I’m sure we are all excited to see what fun Mr. Spikes has in store for us at the front desk. We hope everyone is ready for an exciting year and we are looking forward to seeing you this week at Jet Fest!

And we couldn’t let this chance slip by without giving the PTO volunteering plug! We are always looking for helping hands and have lots of different roles that you can participate in that fit all kinds of parent and family schedules. Participating in the PTO has been such an enrichment to our lives, relationships and the community at Herod, we encourage you to jump in and share in strengthening the academic and campus experience our students have while they are in these precious elementary school years. Reach out anytime at president@herodpto.org

Cheers to an amazing year!
Ashley McDonough & Sarah Schnure
