Herod families,I hope you had a wonderful summer, I am excited to welcome everyone to the 2024-2025 school year at Herod Elementary! Seeing so many of you at Jet Fest this past week was great. Come join the PTO after drop-off in the teacher lounge for a boo-hoo or (woo-hoo) breakfast!
I am thrilled to be your 2024-2025 Herod PTO President. My oldest son will be in 2nd grade, and my youngest daughter will be in Kindergarten this year. In just 2 short years, the teachers and staff at Herod have become like family and I love Herod with all my heart. Herod has endured some changes; yes, it will look different this year. However, I was lucky enough to spend time with the new teachers and staff this past week, and I can attest that good things are coming for Herod and Herod will be stronger than ever this year. All we have to do is Imagine, Believe, and Achieve! We have amazing teachers and staff who are excited to teach the kids and I am excited to take this year’s journey with all our returning jets and new families! Please help support our teachers and staff during this first week of school.
A HUGE shoutout to all the Herod families who volunteered their time to help the teachers and staff set up rooms and get organized before the first day of school. There was lots of dancing, decorating, cutting items, laminating things, hanging posters, moving items, and sorting school supplies but we had fun doing it! Shout out to Hannah Villarreal for organizing and leading this effort. It was a tremendous success and the teachers appreciated all the help.
To all the Jet Fest volunteers, we could not have done it without you. Seeing so many new faces volunteering at Jet Fest and lending a helping hand was great. Thank you. I hope to see more new faces at more PTO events run by volunteers!
The Herod PTO Executive Board and Board of Directors have been busy planning events for this upcoming school year. Our goal continues to be the enhancement of the educational experience and environment for all Herod students. Thanks to the tremendous support from our families, your Herod PTO has provided various critical educational programs and school enhancements that help set all of our students and teachers up for a great year. Check out the “PTO Dollars at Work” section of the weekly newsletter to see your support’s direct impact at Herod Elementary.
Ms. Hewett and all the teachers and staff have been working hard to start this year’s adventure off strong, and Ms. Gordon and her team have been busy shining up the campus.
Don’t forget to refresh yourself on the school drop-off traffic procedures. There is a map located on the back of your car tags. There is absolutely no parking and dropping off heading East on Jason Street. Please make sure you use the crosswalks when crossing any of the intersections; I want all of our Jets to get into the building safely! Pack your patience this week for our new safety patrol members and for all our families to get back in the groove of morning routines!
PTO is always looking for helping hands and has many different roles in which you can participate and fit all kinds of parent and family schedules. Participating in the PTO has enriched my life, relationships, and the community at Herod. I encourage you to jump in and share in strengthening our students' academic and campus experiences during these precious elementary school years. Please feel free to reach out anytime at president@herodpto.org.
Positive vibes for the upcoming school year,
Stephanie Kaspar
