The votes are in and the new 26-27 PTO board has been confirmed! We have a great board for next year and I am excited. I wanted to take a moment to say a few things before the end of the year. I spoke briefly about this at the meeting but wanted to put it in writing...
Since this is my last year as PTO President, I just want to share my thoughts on what this amazing community has accomplished together and what I hope continues long after this year.
As I was stepping into this role 2 years ago, our school was in a season of uncertainty. We had just lost our principal, there were so many unanswered questions, and honestly, a lot of people were anxious about what was next.
But what stood out to me during that time was not the uncertainty; it was this community.
Parents stepped up. Families showed up. People volunteered, donated, supported events, encouraged staff, and worked together to make this school stronger. We didn’t wait for things to become perfect before getting involved. We simply decided our kids and our school were worth fighting for.
And that matters.
Because the truth is, no school is perfect. No administration is perfect. No PTO is perfect. No parent is perfect. Life is not perfect. There will always be change, challenges, disappointments, and moments where things do not go the way we hoped.
But the most important thing is how we respond to these moments.
Our kids are watching us every day. They are learning from how we handle adversity, disagreement, and change. And I think we have to ask ourselves: what message are we sending if every time something gets hard or uncomfortable, we just walk away?
Is the lesson:
“When life gets tough, just run.”
Or is the lesson:
“Recognize the issues, step up, rally as a community, and solve the problem. Help make things better.”
Community involvement matters because schools do not thrive from the top down alone. They thrive because people care enough to participate. They thrive because parents volunteer at events, support teachers, attend meetings, and continue showing up even when things are difficult.
That is what builds a strong school community.
I will still be here helping this school however I can. Because that is the legacy I want my children to see. I want my kids to grow up understanding that you help your community when you can. You help other people when you can. You show up. You contribute. Because one day, you may need that same support from someone else.
And I hope we continue to build that kind of culture here, one rooted in involvement, compassion, resilience, and community.
Thank you to every volunteer, teacher, parent, staff member, and student who helped make this year meaningful. It has truly been an honor to serve this school community.
Remember to be the reason kids look back and say "That school changed my life"
I will pass the torch on to Amanda Scott and Monica Morales at the end of the year, and I know great things are coming for the 26-27 School Year.
Forever grateful for my Herod Family,
Stephanie Kaspar
