SUBJECT: Herod PTO Newsletter 8.2.2026

Welcome from the 26-27 Presidents

We will send out a weekly newsletter every weekend. This weekly newsletter is your go-to source for all things PTO and will hopefully help you plan for the upcoming weeks. Our first edition includes:

  • First Day Drop-Off Procedures
  • Upcoming PTO Events
  • The 26-27 PTO calendar (all your yearly events in one document!)
  • and more!

Make sure to review everything to ensure you don't miss anything important!

If you'd like to order a Herod PTO adult shirt, please pre-order HERE before September 12th to add yours to the order. They will be delivered to your child's classroom in late September.

The All-Volunteer Herod PTO Executive Board and Board of Directors have been meeting over the summer to plan how this year will be another special one. Our mission is to enhance the educational experience and environment for every Herod student. Thanks to the incredible support we received last year, PTO funded programs, resources, and school improvements that made a real difference for our kids and teachers.

You can see exactly how your donations helped by checking out the 25-26 Year-End Review on our Fundraising Page. Please consider becoming a Family Sponsorship donor today so we can keep building on that success.

To echo what our immediate past President said in May of this year: WE hope we continue to build on the amazing culture here, one rooted in involvement, compassion, resilience, and community. We are truly excited and honored to serve this school community.

We appreciate you staying connected with us. Let's make it a fantastic year!

Warmly,

Amanda & Monica

PTO Communication and Engagement Tools

Welcome to the new school year! We know you get a lot of digital notifications, so we want to make communication as easy and painless as possible. We use three specific tools to stay organized.

Here is what they are and how we use them:

  • ParentSquare: Our official home base. Look here for school-wide announcements, emergency updates, and notes directly from your child's teacher and school staff.
Make sure to download the app so you never miss a critical alert.

  • Membership Toolkit: Our friendly neighborhood hub for all things school community!  Visit here when you need to buy spirit wear, get your child's birthday marquee announcement, pay for your annual PTO membership, or look up a classmate's contact info for playdates.

  • Social Media: We have Facebook and Instagram for posting about PTO events, news, and upcoming events! Click the links to access, like, and follow our pages.

What is Jet Fest?

This event is your chance to check out the school, learn about the many enrichment activities available, stock up on Spirit Wear, pick up your dismissal tags, meet the staff, and for our FIRST-YEAR parents to embrace the fun chaos that is PK and Kindergarten!

Volunteers run this event and we NEED YOU!
Please sign up here to help PTO welcome new families to Herod.

Follow these three easy steps for all of the Jet Fest fun:

You can pick up the dismissal tag AND the information card with your teacher’s name on it. Then, stop by the PTO table to learn more about what we do and how to get involved.

2) Head to the MPR for Jet Fest

There is a parent-teacher meeting for PK (Aug 6) and Kindergarten (Aug 5) families at 5:00 pm.

All remaining families are admitted to the MPR at 5:30 pm both nights.

3) Meet the Teacher & Pick up Your Spirit Wear!

Head to the classroom! There may be forms to fill out, introduce yourself and your student(s) to their classmates, and exchange phone numbers with other parents.

Lastly, take your order receipt to the Spirit Wear table to pick up your order!
